8 Jewelry Accessories For Your Strapless Wedding Dress

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. Not only is it documented by photographers, but those photographs will be statements about your life for years to come, so you are going to want to look stunning. Considering strapless wedding dresses have grown in popularity over the years, one of the most important things a woman can do to look her best in pictures is to accessorize properly. Below are some of the best suggestions to consider if you are trying to find the right accessories to go with your wedding gown for your big day.

Match Your Metals

First, you are going to want to make sure that you match your metals. While you may not be aware, some metals look better with certain dress colors. If you are wearing a pure white dress, for example, you should consider silver or platinum. If you have a barely off white color dress, some great jewelry pairings would be yellow gold, rose gold, silver, and pearls. If the dress already has hues of gold or gold beading and embellishments, experts say you should pick pieces of jewelry with gold bases.

Less is More

In wearing a strapless wedding dress, you are probably aware that a lot of jewelry can overpower the simplicity of the dress itself. With this style of dress, you must keep in mind that less is more. After all, this is the one day where you can be the star of your very own show.

Before you start shopping for jewelry, you should look at your gown’s standout features and then base your choices in jewelry around them. When picking out earrings, you also need to remember that your hairstyle is key. If your hair is pulled up, for example, you can get some statement earrings or drop earrings that dangle and sparkle. If your hair is down, you should gravitate more towards stud earrings or something along those lines.

Get the Perfect Veil

Knowing your veils could also benefit you in the long run. Considering the veil is a must-have iconic bridal accessory, you have to understand which tulle or chiffon veils could flatter your dress. There are countless veil designs to choose from.

You can choose something flirty or something long and flirty. Some veils are more cathedral length or those that look like they are covering a birdcage. Floor-length veils can elongate and cause an optical illusion that isn’t flattering for smaller frames. Short styles typically look great on everyone. Sometimes, veils can even be beaded.

How you choose your wedding accessories on your big day is ultimately up to you, but there is a wide variety of veils that are art pieces.

If You Don’t Like Veils

Some don’t enjoy veils, so they have to do something to supplement the need to top it off. One way to do that is by wearing a flower crown. First, choose your hairstyle and if updos are your thing, get the perfect updo. After that, be sure to pick out the freshest flowers and craft the perfect flower crown.  You can create your flower crown if you are more of a budget cautious bride.

There are plenty of different ways you can purchase your own professionally made flower crowns as well.

Hair accessories are better suited for those that have thinner or straighter hair. If your hair is curly, chances are a hair accessory could get lost within your curls. That being said, there are plenty of headpieces and headbands that can be the perfect finishing touch to your wedding attire. You might even be able to add in some extra bling to your wedding day look!

Try Adding A Sash

If you are someone that typically enjoys their fair share of jewelry, you can skip over this part. If you don’t prefer to incorporate jewelry into your wedding day wardrobe, you could always add a sash for that effect. This might be a good way to get in your “something blue.” You could also add a fashionable fastener to a belt that will tie your dress in together with the rest of your accessories.

Your Comfort Is Key

There is a common misconception that wearing a gown would be uncomfortable. However, professionals recommend you keep it somewhat comfy on your wedding day. If your wedding dress is restrictive, whether it’s an a-line or a ball gown, you don’t necessarily have to put your feet through the trauma of wearing tight shoes or high heels.

Considering the dress is typically long, and it is your special day, you should wear your favorite pair of shoes. No one would judge anyone if you decided to wear Converse over a stiletto heel. If you would like to wear heels simply for the pictures, you should do it. But if you are going to a reception that involves dancing, be sure you put your favorite slip-on in your bag so you can dance the night away pain-free.

Get a Coverup

If you are one of the lucky people that get to get married during the colder months, you should invest in a flashy cover-up. These cover-ups can range from something classic and traditional to something completely off the wall luxurious. Fur stoles are certainly wonderful for those brides that choose to wear strapless gowns or gowns with deep v-necklines during the colder months because they can cover up your shoulders and collarbone so you don’t want to shiver or get goosebumps.

In Summary

There is a common misconception that planning a wedding is going to be stressful. It doesn’t have to be stressful if you don’t let it get to you. One way to do this is by sticking to what you know. If you have it in your mind for example that you need to wear a strapless wedding dress and stick to accessorizing in a way that is comfortable and matches your style. You should not consider getting bridal jewelry that you aren’t comfortable wearing.

If you don’t like statement necklaces, you are going to be miserable wearing a heavier necklace on your big day. Pay attention to the details of what you prefer in your style of dress and go from there.

You are going to want something that matches your style and that you feel comfortable wearing, so if that means skipping out on the choker that would look stunning with your high neckline in favor of a pendant necklace, so be it. When shopping for a wedding dress, shoes, or wedding jewelry, ask yourself if you would wear those items. If you are unsure, save your money and keep shopping until you find something that you like.
